The Children’s Advocacy Centers of Illinois and the MI Center for Change are excited to offer a two-part Motivational Interviewing training for CACs and MDT partners across Illinois. This training will be held in two locations: Schaumburg and O’Fallon. Please be sure to apply for the correct location.
Each training is limited to 35 participants, so an application process is required. Applicants must commit to attending both the in-person and virtual training sessions. Please carefully review the training information below before submitting your application and not that an application does not guarantee a training spot.
What is Motivational Interviewing:
MI is a collaborative and empowering approach to support clients in behavior and growth change. The main goal of MI is to help individuals resolve ambivalence and it's been proven more effective than traditional advice-giving! MI implements client- centered communication skills and directional strategies to work collaboratively with clients so they can progress toward goals. Why MI? MI is an evidenced-based treatment with nearly 2,400 clinical trials that validate its efficacy. MI can be used to support anyone who is working on behavior or growth changes and it can be used to help individuals with longer-term, continued engagement in services, with crisis intervention, and in brief encounters. Training Sequence This 2-day (12-hour) in-person training is the ‘foundational’ MI training, where all of the essentials of MI are covered. In this experiential workshop, role-plays, partnering, and small group work will assist participants in integrating MI skills into current practice. Participants will complete the training with effective skills for working with clients in an engaging, collaborative manner in order to increase client growth and positive behavior change.
This training costs $100 - hotel accommodations for two nights and breakfasts will be provided by CACI. Lunch will be on your own. Applicants will not be invoiced until they are selected and accept their spot.
2 Day In-Person Training Dates: May 20-21st at the Drury Inn & Suites St. Louis O'Fallon, IL
