Description
ChildFirst® is an intensive five-day training designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to conduct competent, investigative interviews of child abuse victims using the nationally recognized ChildFirst® Forensic Interview Protocol. This highly interactive course combines lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice.
Participants will:
- Learn about child development, memory, suggestibility, and the impact of trauma.
- Explore legal issues, preparing children for court, and testifying effectively.
- Conduct a 30-minute mock forensic interview, followed by detailed feedback.
- Complete nightly homework assignments to reinforce learning.
- Take a written exam at the end of the week.
- Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.

- Attorney-Only Course: October 20–22, 2025 | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | $350.00 (MCLE certificate included)
- Protocol Refresher (for previously trained forensic interviewers): October 21, 2025 | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | $100.00
Registration Deadline: October 9, 2025
Location: Embassy Suites Hotel and Riverfront Conference Center, 100 Conference Center Drive, East Peoria, IL 61611. Participants are responsible for their own hotel reservations and lodging costs. A hotel block has been secured at a rate of $110 + tax/fees per night.

Important Information: This is a rigorous and intensive training. Full participation is required. Those unable to commit to these requirements should not apply.
Participants must:
- Attend all training sessions
- Complete homework assignments
- Participate in a 30-minute mock forensic interview
- Pass the final exam
Requirements & Acceptance
- All applicants must be endorsed by the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) in their service area.
- Please do not register until you have spoken with your affiliated CAC’s Executive Director.
- CACI will contact the Executive Director for confirmation before acceptance.
- Applicants will be notified of acceptance as soon as possible.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
- Cancellations: Written notice must be emailed to [email protected] at least 14 days prior to the training for a refund (minus a 5% processing fee).
- Transfers: Registration may be transferred to another qualified applicant within the same organization.
- No Refunds: No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than 14 days prior or for “no-shows.”
- Event Cancellation: If CACI cancels the event, 100% of the registration fee will be refunded.
- Refund Deadline: October 6, 2025.
