MDT Facilitator Training : Session 1: Cultivating Purpose-Oriented Meetings

Session 1: Creating and modeling psychological safety; Facilitating shared decision-making.

 

This training is designed for MDT Coordinators/Facilitators and team members who organize or lead MDT case review meetings. Participants will build facilitation skills specific to MDT case review settings, strengthen communication and collaboration among MDT partners, and learn strategies to assess team dynamics, address challenges, and support overall team health. Key topics include the roles and responsibilities of the MDT Coordinator, facilitation fundamentals for case review meetings, assessing MDT readiness and dynamics, communication across disciplines, managing power differences, addressing conflict or disengagement, and sustaining healthy, effective MDTs.

 

The training consists of three 3-hour sessions from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. on August 26, 27, and 28. Full attendance each day is required to meet the National Children's Alliance MDT Coordinators Essential Component A 8-hour training requirement.

 

Meet the Trainer: Grace Stewart has more than 18 years of experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the United States, the United Kingdom, South Sudan, and Kenya. Her work spans post-conflict restoration, community innovation, misconduct and abuse investigations in faith communities, and systems-level responses to child abuse. Grace has witnessed firsthand the critical role of collaboration in achieving meaningful, sustained outcomes for children and families. She brings a practical, trauma-informed approach to facilitation grounded in real-world MDT experiences.
